Take a Stand of Principle!
No to the Method of Force and Terror! Defend the Sovereignty of Nations!

Call of RCPB(ML) to Workers and Progressive People, September 11, 2002

One year after the tragic and horrific events of September 11, 2001, the world once more stands on the brink of a tragedy. The administration of US President George W Bush, with the backing of Prime Minister Tony Blair, seems determined to unilaterally go to war against Iraq and overthrow the Iraqi government.

Such a course of action, whether dressed up as naked pursuit of US interests or as pre-empting a humanitarian catastrophe, will have incalculable consequences for mankind and the Middle East in particular. Events over the past year have contributed to arousing the opposition of the peace-loving forces of the world to what would be nothing but a further act of state terrorism and aggression by Anglo-US imperialism.

The terror of September 11, 2001, was itself the offspring of the agenda of imperialist globalisation and the imposition by force of the US "New World Order". Tony Blair and George W Bush are now widening the description of this terror to include threats and possibilities of the use of "weapons of mass destruction" by others.

This means that it is Bush and Blair who are the ones determined to use force and terror. This is a threat to engulf the Middle East in flames in their geopolitical and economic interests.

What must be rejected is the method of force and terror as the means of settling international disputes. Britain must not ally with US imperialism and the people must fight for a foreign policy for Britain which is independent, just and peaceful and based on the people’s interests.

The working class must take a position of principle. It must take a stand in defence of the rights of all, condemn injustice and defend the sovereignty of nations.

The workers and progressive people have the power to make a difference, a power which comes from fighting for an agenda which is the people’s own, based on the programme of the working class to lead society out of the crisis to a socialist future, where the people control their own destiny.

Take a Stand of Principle! Fight for the Alternative!
