Build the Resistance against US-Israeli State Terror!
Organise to End British Complicity in War Crimes!
No to the Alliance with US Imperialism!

Statement of the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain (Marxist-Leninist), August 5, 2006

As the criminal US-Israeli aggression against Lebanon is being stepped up, so too is the fierce opposition of the people in Lebanon, in Palestine and throughout the world to the aggression, invasion and occupation. The sentiment of the people everywhere is summed up as: We too are the Resistance! We too take up responsibility to end the crimes of war and fascism and to defend humanity! We stand as one with the resistance struggles against crimes of aggression!

In this regard, our Party calls on the working class and people of Britain to organise to end British complicity in the war crimes against the people of Lebanon and Palestine and to say No to the alliance of Britain with US imperialism in its strategy to impose its dictate throughout the world. We call on the working class and people, as well as building the resistance to defeat the warmongers, to go all out to organise to bring into being an anti-war government, relying on their own forces and their own strength and energies.

Every day, with the stepped up military terror and aggression by Israeli Zionism, dictated by the United States, to commit genocide against the Lebanese people, the danger of a wider conflict to impose the US empire in the region is increasing. The US is not only utilising Israeli Zionism to terrorise the Palestinian and Lebanese people, but also has its sights set on Syria and Iran. It is doing so in conjunction with its occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan so as to bring into being what is being called a "new Middle East". As this plan unfolds, the dangers to the sovereign states of Syria and Iran increases. US imperialism sees the possibility of defeat everywhere as the resistance to its imperialist crimes also increases. But the US response, to which Tony Blair is adding his voice with his justifications for the so-called "defence of civilised values" and opposing an "arc of extremism", is to step up the "war on terror", that is, to unleash more state terror and armed violence against the resisting peoples.

Democratic people are expressing their outrage at the policy of Hitlerite collective punishment carried out by Israeli Zionism and its push for lebensraum. They are expressing outrage too at Britain’s alliance with US imperialism in sanctioning this aggression and occupation, and supplying the arms, including nuclear arms, both from Britain and through Britain. There is outrage too at the role of sections of the media in acting in effect as the government’s mouthpiece and its historically bankrupt and morally blind "even-handedness" and chauvinism. This too is part of the unfolding agenda of the "war on terror" which is targeting sections of humanity as "evil" in order to dehumanise them and pave the way for greater atrocities in the name of a "globalised economy".

The working class and people must further develop their protest movement and their organising work so as to bring into political power their own representatives who will uphold the rule of law internationally, remove all troops from foreign soil, outlaw the use of force to settle conflicts, and vigorously defend the right of all peoples to decide on their own affairs and social systems.

Legal Proceedings against British Government over Military Shipments to Israel

The Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) on August 3, 2006, issued a press release which said: "Following many complaints that we have received from British citizens whose family members are in Lebanon and facing grave danger as well as acts of terror, the Islamic Human Rights Commission has decided to issue proceedings in the Royal Courts of Justice against the Civil Aviation Authority, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, as well as the Secretary of State for Defence, to prevent them from their continued acts of aiding and abetting grave and serious violations of International Humanitarian Law and crimes against the Geneva Conventions that are continuing in the Republic of Lebanon."

The IHRC points out that Parliament as well as other members of the Cabinet and the relevant members of the government departments that are parties to this action have continued to ignore the anger and the will of the British public. They are willing participants in the war crimes that have taken place in the Republic of Lebanon.

Chair of IHRC, Massoud Shadjareh stated: "Rather than preventing the shipments of military hardware, ammunition, and munitions from the US to the State of Israel, the UK government has ignored its own policy and guidelines on the export of such materials to areas where they are likely to prolong an already bloody conflict."

"The action undertaken by us is an attempt to force the relevant public authorities to respect the law as they know parliament has laid down for all UK citizens to respect and follow but which our government refuses to abide by. We hope that the independent court will finally uphold the will of parliament and enforce the law."

Letter to Workers’ Daily Internet Edition

Dear Editor,

On behalf of Blackpool Fylde & Wyre Trades Union Council, may I inform you of a resolution that was passed by this body at our meeting on Tuesday 25th July ’06.

It reads as follows:

Resolution on the Middle East Crisis

This Trades Council condemns Israel’s murderous assault on the people of Lebanon and calls for an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israel from the occupied territories. While Israel has a right to exist and defend itself it does not have a right to constantly expand by occupying its neighbour’s land and eliminating any opposition to its colonialist project. We deplore British collusion with USA hegemonic policy in opposing the UN call for a ceasefire and recognise that there can be no lasting and just solution in the Middle East crisis without resolving the Palestinian issue.

Yours Sincerely,

Brian Gregory.

Secretary.
