May Day 2008 International Day of Working Class Unity and Struggle:
May First Call of the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain (Marxist-Leninist)
The Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain (Marxist-Leninist) on the occasion of May Day 2008 the international day of working class unity and struggle greets all the workers across England, Scotland and Wales who are fighting for their rights and to lift society out of the crisis. We greet the workers all over the world fighting against imperialist interference and aggression and in defence of their right to be and to chart their own course.
On May Day 2008, the working class affirms its own pride and dignity. It is the class which has the historic mission to lead all who are oppressed, victimised and the exploited of all lands. It is the class that must put an end to the old world of war, of fascism, of the anti-social offensive, of state terrorism, of all-round crisis, of the despoliation of the natural and social environment, of everything that represents the old. The working class stands at the head of progressive humanity, to safeguard the future and affirm the new, by opening the door for the progress of society. In this sense, it is the working class which has the role assigned by history to save the day and open the door to the new society by defeating the old dying society.
The struggles that the workers are engaging in to defend their own rights, and the rights of all, are having to be fought with increased vigour and ferocity as the class battles sharpen. The monopolies and their political representatives even deny the independent existence of the class in the name of "national interests". The crisis in the political representation of the people, and in particular of the workers, has to be addressed and resolved in favour of the working class and against the interests of the monopolies who have no social responsibility whatsoever, but are wrecking society in their greed to make every aspect of society pay the rich.
Our Party, RCPB(ML), calls on the working class to urgently take up this problem for solution, for the workers to discuss and take up their own independent programme. To do so requires that the workers themselves take up the issue of democratic renewal, to select and elect their own political representatives who stand on principle. In this they represent the Workers Opposition, so that the anti-worker, anti-social offensive of the monopolies can be halted, and the working class can begin to take centre stage in political affairs, and give rise to its own worker politicians. It is the cause of the working class which is the future for humanity, as the ruling elite and reaction seeks to trample underfoot every single gain that progressive humanity has made in the 20th century. This is a decisive time for humanity, and the working class must rise to the occasion and put its own stamp on society, the stamp of unity and struggle, the stamp of One for All and All for One, the stamp of An Injury to One Is an Injury to All.
Now is the time for workers to get organised, set the agenda for society, and consciously work to put working people and their own representatives into positions of state power. In this way, the fight to stop paying the rich and invest in social programmes centred on the claims of the people on society can be guaranteed success. The working people themselves should constitute a government which is anti-war, pro-social and pro-worker. As an indispensable part of this working class perspective, the class conscious workers should join and build the modern communist party, a mass party which is also the vanguard of the working class.
On the occasion of May Day 2008, RCPB(ML) reiterates its call to the workers to take up their historic mission to lift the society out of the crisis, and open the path to its progress. Uphold the unity and co-operation of the workers and oppressed people of all lands! Open the path for a socialist Britain in a new world by uniting all behind the political programme of the working class and renewing all aspects of human endeavour, and empowering the people! Take a bold step together in defence of the rights of all!
Workers and Oppressed Peoples of All Countries, Unite!
