Long Live the Legacy
of President Hugo Chávez

July 28, 1954 - March 5, 2013
The Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain
(Marxist-Leninist) expresses its deepest condolences on the death at such a
premature age of President Hugo Chávez. His death is a great loss to the
Venezuelan people, as well as to the whole of Latin America and the Caribbean,
and the peoples of the world.
Hugo Chávez fought throughout his life for justice
and progress for the peoples of his country. But further, in doing so he fought
to open a path to progress and to ensure a better world would come into being.
It is clear that in this mission, he met with hostility from
US imperialism and the enemies of the people. But for progressive humanity and
those who cherish the goal of a new society, his example remains an
inspiration.
We are certain that the Venezuelan people will turn their
grief into strength, defend the gains of the Bolivarian Revolution, and push
ahead with building on the achievements achieved under his leadership and that
of the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Hugo Chávez
symbolised the struggle to safeguard independence and sovereignty, the fight
for justice and dignity, and the empowerment of the people. Our hearts go out
to the Venezuelan people and all those close to President Chávez on
their tremendous loss.
Long Live the Legacy of Hugo Chávez!
Onward with the Bolivarian Revolution!
