The Cuba Solidarity Campaign reports that parliamentary pressure on the British government over Cuba has intensified in recent weeks, with MPs and peers using debates, parliamentary questions and public campaigning to challenge the humanitarian impact of the US blockade and escalating sanctions. Following a Westminster Hall debate secured by Jeremy Corbyn, MPs have continued to press ministers over Britain's response to the worsening crisis.

Emily Thornberry MP, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, questioned then Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper on the Britain's position, while MPs, peers and trade union leaders had also gathered outside Parliament for a CSC photo-call urging the government to oppose the Trump administration's escalating economic warfare and reject any threat of military intervention against the island.

An EDM on Cuba which reached 117 parliamentary signatures under the last parliament has also been retabled with a new number. Early Day Motion (EDM) 118 calls on the British government to oppose President Trump's new executive order and reject extraterritorial sanctions which endanger the wellbeing of the Cuban people.
